Lake Huron Gale

After two days of motoring across Lake Huron with no wind,
we leave Lexington to come south to Port Huron, Sarnia and then Detroit.
On this trip there was either too little or too much.
We couldn't sail this day either, not in gusts of 55 knots of true wind,
onto which you have to add about 6 of boat speed.
There are four levels of gales: Moderate, Fresh, Strong and Whole.
We were in a Whole Gale, occasionally a "Storm" and only 10 knots from Hurricane
force winds. Even though the bow took a plunge now and then beneath the waves,
the ride was steady and gentle.I was just bummed that the sails stayed in their
stack packs nearly the whole trip.
